
Candy Cane Fun in Mrs. Brancato's Art Room!
Our third graders are bringing the holiday spirit to life while mastering the Element of Art: Value! They’ve done an amazing job using colored pencils to create shadows and highlights, blending from dark to light to make their candy canes pop.




Rylee is Deputy Roach's pick for the November Campus Law Enforcement Student of the Month! Rylee's bright smile and sweet manner earned her this honor. Congratulations, Rylee, and continue to be "Determined to Make a Difference!"


Pattern Block Fun with a Festive Twist!
Mrs. Sultan's class got into the holiday spirit by exploring shapes! Using colorful pattern blocks, they recognized geometric shapes and combined them to design festive Christmas pictures.











With Mrs. Barbara's help, Mrs. Gartrell's kindergartners channeled their architects and designed the sweetest gingerbread houses with candy-coated walls, frosted rooftops, and peppermint paths!






Cookie Decorating Fun! Mrs. Justice's and Mrs. Ellis's fourth-grade classes enjoyed a cookie decorating activity. From gingerbread trees to festive trains, our students showcased their sweet creativity.







Pickens County School District will be on Winter Break beginning December 23rd. Schools and the Central Office will be closed from December 23-January 2. Students will return to class on January 6th. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.


Brains and feet in action! Mrs. Abbott's kindergarteners had fun solving puzzles and playing games on the new Active Floor in the media center. They are moving, learning, and showing what they know -- one step at a time!





We are thrilled to introduce the newest members of the Hill City family—Oaklee and Finn! These adorable Goldendoodles are our therapy dogs and will be at school daily to provide comfort, support, and lots of tail wags to our students, faculty, and staff. Whether it's a stressful day or just a moment to kindly pet a furry friend, Oaklee and Finn are here to make Hill City an even happier place to learn and grow.




Oh, Christmas Tree Day! Here are Mrs. Gartrell, Cora, Jacob, and Madison dressed like a sparkly trees shining brightly! So fun!


Jump and Learn! We were excited to introduce our PreK, kindergarten, and first-grade Hawks to the new Active Floor in the media center. The fun was contagious as they jumped, moved, and worked together. What a great way to combine learning and play! Even Deputy Roach had to check it out! Here are Ms. Sultan's and Mrs. Smith's first graders using their feet and showing what they know!






Nursing Home Angels Donations Update
We’re extending our donations deadline to Monday, 12/16 in hopes of collecting more non-slip socks and blankets! Our goal is to spread holiday cheer to 40 residents at Wildwood Nursing Home.
So far, we’ve received 8 blankets—thank you for your generosity! Let’s keep the momentum going to make this season brighter for these wonderful residents.

A big shoutout to the Pickens Arts & Cultural Alliance for awarding Hill City Elementary a $500 grant! This generous support will help make our annual Fine Arts Night this spring even more special.

News from PTO for December!


Thank you to our Sequoyah Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution for the book donation to our media center. "We Fought For Freedom: The Story of Our American Revolution" by Tara Ross is a wonderful patriotic picture book that beautifully introduces our students to our nation’s rich historical heritage as our country fought for freedom from Great Britain.

Mrs. Shealey's class is polishing their reading skills! After reading a story from their Benchmark booklet, the students worked in groups to identify the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Then, they showcased their understanding by presenting to the class!
