Everybody loves a parade! Today marks the 100th Day of School, and our kindergartners celebrated in style! Dressed to impress, we cheered them as they marched the hallway! Here’s to 100 days of learning, growing, and fun!

Tasty Fractions!
Ms. Osborn's first-graders discovered just how delicious math can be! By dividing brownies into halves, fourths, eighths, and beyond, these young mathematicians think fractions are pretty sweet!

Brrr! "Sneezy the Snowman" by Maureen Wright had Mrs. Smith's, Ms. Sultan's, and Mrs. Tippen's first graders giggling. Sneezy is freezing, but his attempts to warm up turn him into a puddle! Using their imaginations, students added their own twists to the plot, writing why their snowmen melted. To add to the fun, they painted their very own “melty” snowmen!

Do you want to build a snowman? Yes, we do!
Mrs. Anderson's PreK students practiced their skills with Playdough spheres, constructing frosty friends in the media center. Tomorrow, they hope to level up to the real deal—fingers crossed for some snow!

Snow much fun in the media center!
Inspired by the incoming snow, Mrs. Hamilton's PreK, Ms. Jenkin's kindergarten, and friends in Mrs. Duncan's class got creative and engineered their very own snowmen! From pipe cleaner scarves to button eyes to Q-tip arms, these snowmen were totally stylin’! We loved seeing all the creativity, imagination, and giggles that went into building these frosty friends.

Congratulations to Ella and Everleigh on earning a trip to the Book Vending Machine! These kindergartners in Ms. Jenkins' class both achieved reading goals. Ella mastered her kindergarten sight word list and Everleigh has conquered the first grade sight words. Enjoy your new books, girls!

Due to expected weather conditions, Pickens County Schools and the District Office will be closed on Friday, January 10th. All extra-curricular activities are also canceled both Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January 11th.

Shake, Rattle, and Roll!
Mrs. Moss's third graders are rolling the dice! They're using 10-sided dice to create 3-digit numbers, then taking their math skills to the next level by rounding to the nearest 10 or 100.
To do this, they're drawing number lines, marking benchmark numbers and the midpoint number.

We are happy to announce that Kristi Kaley is the latest recipient of The Hawk! Mrs. Chapman selected her for this honor, sharing, “She cares deeply for her students as well as the staff here at Hill City." She has a heart of gold and is quick to volunteer for special events. For example, she spends countless hours securing food donations for our annual Heritage Day celebration. Congratulations, Mrs. Kristi!

Spreading Holiday Cheer!
Our Kindness Crew and Safety Patrol joined forces to assemble 40 heartfelt care packages for our Nursing Home Angels Project! They worked together to organize all the wonderful donations from our Hill City families, spreading joy to the residents of Wildwood Nursing Home.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this special project—your kindness makes all the difference this holiday season!

Merry Christmas! We wish you a safe and happy holiday. See you next year, Hawks!
