We had some excited Pre-K and kindergarten students yesterday showing off their new book bags — complete with a book and a reading buddy stuffy!

A huge thank you to Maxyne and Richard Bursky from the Hallyboy Foundation for this generous donation. What an encouraging way to motivate students to read over the summer and help curb the “summer slide”!

We are also grateful that they will be returning in the fall to provide backpacks filled with school supplies for all of our Hawks. #PowerfulPartnerships

🎓 Dragon Nation Senior Walk: A Favorite Tradition! 🎓

We salute the Pickens High School Class of 2026! Congratulations, graduates — we are so proud of you!

What a precious moment for some teacher/mamas too - Sweet hugs for Courtney Davis and her daughter, Reece, and Natasha Jarrett and her daughter, MacKenna.

A special shoutout to two former Hawks, Angelina Grizzle and Micah Newton, who are both PHS STAR Students. When choosing a STAR Teacher to honor, they both reached back to their elementary school years and selected Suzanne Hardison and Kelly Moss. What an incredible honor for an educator!

Such a sweet mother/son moment!

Xavier’s mom, Trista, attended Hill City Elementary when the school first opened in 2002, and now Xavier is finishing up fourth grade just before the school begins its full remodel. What a special full-circle memory for their family!

We are so thankful for lasting connections like this that make Hill City such a special place.

Congratulations, Mrs. Connelly, and thank you for the love, dedication, and excellence you bring to our students and school each day!

We also want to say a special congratulations to Valerie Boehm from Pickens High School, who was selected as the Pickens County School District's Teacher of the Year!

For Fine Arts Night, fourth grade students created Blackout Poetry! This type of found poetry uses words written by someone else to create something brand new. Students carefully selected words for their poems, boxed them in, and blacked out the remaining text.

Here’s Mrs. Connelly’s ELA class of poets working hard in the media center with Mrs. Hardison and Mrs. Jamie as they stretched their creativity and discovered the power of found words!
