Science fun in Mrs. Georgia's class!
Students explored the Properties of Matter in a hands-on way. They began by comparing textures, hardness, color, and rigidity of different objects like pencils, nuts, tools, acorns, tissues, blankets, and even squishable fidgets.
Then, they dove into a sweet experiment with M&Ms, which they sorted by color, compared sizes, and discussed their texture, smell, and taste — discovering that all of these are characteristics of matter.

Thank you to the PHS Cheerleaders for welcoming our Hawks with big smiles during morning car rider drop-off today! Good luck tonight as you take on Dawson County — we’ll be cheering you on! Harry Hawk says, "Go Dragons!"

Everybody loves a parade! Last night's Homecoming Parade was absolutely terrific!
A special shout-out to our amazing team at Hill City who worked so hard to create our school float — and its winning message: "Hawks & Dragons Tackle Cancer!" And how cool was it to see our very own Mrs. Amanda Abbott at the start of the parade, waving proudly as Pickens County's Teacher of the Year?!
We are so proud of the spirit, teamwork, and heart that went into making this happen. Way to go, Hill City!

Mrs. Smith's second grade class has been hard at work this week! They’ve been learning to identify nouns, verbs, and adjectives in sentences. Plus, they've been building, writing, and blending words while practicing their sight words.

We have a new Hawk Award recipient to celebrate!
Mrs. Dittmer chose to honor Kellie Henson, sharing these kind words:
"She is a true leader of our team. If she doesn’t know the answer to a question, she will go out of her way to find the answer or help with whatever issues arise. She always greets you with a warm smile, a cheerful 'HELLO,' and a chipper attitude that makes everyone feel welcome."
Thank you, Mrs. Henson, for everything you do each day to support our students and staff. We are so grateful for you!

Mrs. Shealey's first graders had an exciting visit to the media center! With the help of "Mr. Wiggles the Bookworm," they learned all about how to care for their books and check them out using a shelf marker.
Checking out 3 library books is a BIG responsibility, but we know these readers are up for the challenge! #ReadReturnRepeat
