Turkey Feather Fundraiser Update!
Kindergarten has taken an early lead in the Turkey Feather Fundraiser contest! Mrs. Roper's kindergarten class currently holds the "bragging rights" for the most turkey feathers!
Let’s keep the momentum going and make this the best PTO Turkey Feather Fundraiser ever!

We're "FALL-ing" for reading! Our Little Free Library at the front of the school is restocked with a terrific selection of books. Swing by and pick out a book or two. We "be-LEAF" you need something new to read!

Mrs. Moss's recipe for mathematical success! There's no better way to start a Monday than learning division with cookies! These 3rd-grade students got hands-on with division by creating equal groups and fair shares. They practiced writing and labeling division equations, using their mathematical vocabulary to show their understanding.

Gobble, gobble!
The PTO’s Turkey Feather Fundraiser starts today! Feathers are just 25 cents each, and every feather counts! This year, we’re adding an exciting twist: the grade level with the most feathers will WIN, and their teachers will proudly wear turkey hats at our Thanksgiving lunch on November 21st!

What did these 4th-graders discover?
Mrs. Justice’s class visited the Science Lab to dissect owl pellets! These scientists tried to piece together clues about what their owl had for dinner. What an exciting way to learn about the food chain and animal biology!

Congratulations to our Perseverance Award Honorees! We are incredibly proud of each of you for your "I can do it!" attitude! Your dedication, hard work, and problem-solving skills are growing daily. Keep pushing forward, and remember that every challenge is a stepping stone to more success!

Congratulations to Mrs. Romesberg, our newest Hawk Award recipient!
Mrs. Smith recognized Mrs. Romesberg for her dedication: "I am passing the Hawk to someone who is always searching for ways to improve instruction. She works tirelessly, researching new methods to make reading and writing engaging for our students. Not only does she strive to keep learning fun, but she’s always ready to lend a hand wherever needed."
Thank you, Mrs. Romesberg, for going above and beyond for our students and school. We are so grateful for all you do!

Another amazing kindergartener in Ms. Jenkin's class has mastered all of the kindergarten sight words! Congratulations to Carter! He's moving on to the first-grade words now. Enjoy your new book from the Book Vending Machine and keep up the great reading!

Congratulations to Rylee!
Deputy Roach has chosen this fabulous fourth-grader as the Campus Law Enforcement Student of the Month for October! Rylee’s sweet manner and the kindness she shows to everyone around her truly make her shine.
Keep up the amazing work, Rylee, and continue being “Determined to Make a Difference!”

Got Leftover Jack-o-Lanterns?
Don't toss them out—compost them! Bring your pumpkins to Hill City Elementary and let them give back to the earth. Drop-off is easy! Follow the circle drive to the compost bin at the back of the school. Your pumpkin will help nourish next year’s crops!

News from PTO for November!

Mrs. Green's 4th-grade Discovery students wrote letters and created beautiful artwork for Veterans currently under hospice care.
With Veterans Day approaching on November 11th, we pause to honor the brave men and women who served our country selflessly. Thank you to all Veterans for your courage, dedication, and sacrifice.

Congratulations to Colton! He's mastered his kindergarten sight words and is moving up to the first-grade list! Way to rock the reading in Ms. Jenkins' class! As a reward, he's earned a special visit to the Book Vending Machine! Keep up the amazing work, Colton!

More fascinating discoveries in the Science Lab! Mrs. Ellis's 4th-graders took on the challenge of dissecting owl pellets. This hands-on (and slightly gross!) activity gave students an up-close look at what owls have hunted and eaten. They were curious about the tiny bones and other remains, revealing clues about an owl's diet and role in the ecosystem.

Today we celebrate Georgia Retired Educators Day!
Thank you to all the incredible retired educators who dedicated years of passion, hard work, and commitment to shaping young lives. Your influence lasts far beyond the classroom, touching hearts and minds forever.

Kindergartners in Action: Engineering the Perfect Spider Web Bridge!
First graders and kindergartners in the Computer/STEM lab took on a unique engineering challenge this week! Tasked with building a bridge to help spiders cross a river, each team combined their knowledge of spiders and bridges to design a strong, suspension-style "Spider Web Bridge."
Here are Mrs. Abbott's young engineers exploring what it means to think like a spider, working hard to create a structure that could support as many spiders as possible.
Way to go, future engineers!

"Lots of 'Inside Out 2' Emotions visited the Hill today! Our 3rd & 4th-grade teachers brought the fun (and were even spotted at Friday's Fall Bash!), while our 1st & 2nd-grade teachers rounded out the day with their own 'Inside Out 2' crew of Emotions.

"Big thanks to Mrs. Moss for capturing our fabulous 3rd-graders dressed in their Halloween finery for Red Ribbon Week! They’re taking a stand and aren’t 'Afraid to Say No!' in today’s 'Drug-Busters' theme!

"Check out our 3rd-grade teachers and students embracing their 100-year-old future selves! Thanks for honoring the Red Ribbon Week theme 'You Only Live Once... Be Drug-Free!' and showing us that a healthy lifestyle never goes out of style!

Red Ribbon Week Fun! Mrs. Connelly's 4th-graders showed up in style each day, embracing the dress-up themes to support an anti-drug, healthy lifestyle. From "rallying in red," dressing like they're 100, to a full-on Yee-Haw day, and today's "Drug-Busters" Halloween, these kids brought their spirit and smiles every day!
