Storybook inspired engineering in the STEM Lab!
With inspiration from "Strega Nona" by Tomie dePaola, fourth-grade students (Mrs. Bryant's homeroom pictured) engineered a structure to hold their pasta pot—or cauldron! Meanwhile, our kindergarten and first-grade students (Mrs. Smith's homeroom pictured) explored the world of nocturnal bats through "Amara and the Bats" by Emma Reynolds. Their challenge? Figure out a way to make their bat hang upside down to sleep!

Students in Mrs. Sutton’s math classes enjoyed listening to "100 Hungry Ants" by Elinor J. Pinczes. After the read-aloud, they used two-color counters to represent quantities in equal groups and arrays. From their models, students practiced writing multiplication equations to show the relationships between groups, arrays, and totals. This hands-on activity helped them connect a fun story to important multiplication concepts!
