Ooh, that's my favorite part too! Let's share a favorite part of a book we are reading today! #DragonsLoveReading

In "Hair Love," by Matthew Cherry, Zuri's dad struggles to create the perfect hairstyle for his daughter. Just like him, we all face challenges—especially when learning something new! Our first graders visited the media center and took on the challenge of sewing! It may have included a few knots, dropped needles, and twisted yarn, but they persevered and had fun trying to learn this valuable life skill.

Day #6 of our Dragons Love Reading challenges you to share a story with a family member or friend. You are a great reader, so read a favorite book aloud!

Congratulations, Luke!
Luke, a kindergartner in Mrs. Gartrell's class, has mastered all of the kindergarten sight words! His hard work and dedication to reading earned him a special trip to the Book Vending Machine to choose a brand-new book. Way to go, Luke!

These amazing second graders in Mrs. Tippen's class are celebrating a big milestone—earning their first backpack pin for reaching 25% of their reading goal!
Through the A.R. program in our media center, students are encouraged and rewarded for their independent reading—and we know they’ll be hitting that 50% mark in no time! Way to go, readers! Keep up the great work!

🎉 Happy National School Counseling Week!
There aren’t enough words to express how much we appreciate our amazing school counselor, Mrs. Jennie Smith! She makes a tremendous impact every single day, helping our students grow, thrive, and succeed. Please join us in giving her the happiest shoutout and a big THANK YOU for all she does for our school!

February is National Children's Dental Health Month!
Today, Dr. Pryor brought his "dental magic" to our kindergarten students, sharing the importance of keeping those smiles healthy and bright! Students learned about brushing twice a day, flossing, and taking great care of their teeth! A big thank you to Dr. Pryor. We appreciate the dental gift bags too!

"My favorite part about when it rains is when the raindrops hit my bedroom window," explains Luke.
This awesome kindergartner explored weather for today’s Dragons Love Reading challenge! Check out his amazing thunderstorm drawing to go along with the story! Keep enjoying those books, Luke. #DragonsLoveReading

Our Hawks Helping Hub (HHH) Collection is off to a STELLAR START!
Kindergarten has taken a BIG LEAD, but there are still several days remaining...SO let's see what GENEROUS DONATIONS tomorrow brings!
🤔💭MATH BRAIN Questions:
--How many MORE items has Kindergarten collected THAN the second place grade?

It's Day#4 of Dragons Love Reading and the forecast is spectacular - especially if you read a book about the weather!

Students in Mrs. Connelly's 4th grade ELA class have been working hard to answer the essential question: How do we make decisions about developing new technology? Students have been building knowledge goals by reading informational texts about the changes in society related to advancements in technology. They have been synthesizing information to build enduring understandings.

Are you feeling artistic or crafty? Day #3 of Dragons Love Reading challenges you to design a bookmark! We would love to see what you create! Bring it to the media center and show us.

It's Day #2 for the Dragons Love Reading! What are you curious about in the story or novel?

It's February 1st! Let's get started on our Dragons Love Reading initiative. Day #1 - Go!

Hooray for this week's Perseverance Award recipients!
We celebrate your determination to keep going—even when things seemed tough! Your hard work and resilience paid off, and we are so proud of you! Keep striving for greatness!
