More fascinating discoveries in the Science Lab! Mrs. Ellis's 4th-graders took on the challenge of dissecting owl pellets. This hands-on (and slightly gross!) activity gave students an up-close look at what owls have hunted and eaten. They were curious about the tiny bones and other remains, revealing clues about an owl's diet and role in the ecosystem.

Kindergartners in Action: Engineering the Perfect Spider Web Bridge!
First graders and kindergartners in the Computer/STEM lab took on a unique engineering challenge this week! Tasked with building a bridge to help spiders cross a river, each team combined their knowledge of spiders and bridges to design a strong, suspension-style "Spider Web Bridge."
Here are Mrs. Abbott's young engineers exploring what it means to think like a spider, working hard to create a structure that could support as many spiders as possible.

Day #2 of Red Ribbon Week! 🎉Several of Mrs. Anderson's PreK students are embracing the theme "Y.O.L.O... Be drug-free!" as they celebrate the importance of living long, healthy lives. They look fabulous dressed as their 100-year-old selves! Tomorrow's theme is "Yee-haw! Let's Lasso Healthy Anti-Drugs!" Dress like a farmer, cowboy or cowgirl, or your favorite farm animal.
Scientists at Work! Mrs. Romesberg's second graders had an exciting day in the STEM Lab, where they dissected owl pellets! This hands-on activity helped them discover exactly what owls eat by examining real skeletal remains.

Fire Safety Week at Hill City!
This week, the Fire Marshal's Office has been busy teaching our students all about fire safety! PreK through 2nd graders had the chance to explore the Fire Safety House and learn life-saving tips from the Fire Safety Education team. We're so grateful for this hands-on training and encourage all families to make a fire safety plan for your home. Thank you again, Pickens County Fire and Rescue.
Yippee! The Fall Bash is Tonight!
We can hardly wait to see you all tonight from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Hill City! Let’s boogie in the gym, vote for your favorite class pumpkin, and grab some treats at the concessions sold in the cafeteria. Don’t forget to check out the raffle baskets too! Plus, our Book Fair is open, so come find your next favorite read! We can’t wait to celebrate fall with you!
Mrs. Connelly's 4th grade students have been hard at work! They've been writing letters to Veterans in honor of their service, building up their independent reading stamina, and sharing their writing with classmates. They even had a sweet visit from students in Mrs. Coker's PHS class, who delivered candy as part of a business lesson!
Mrs. Osborn's first graders recently took a trip to our STEM Lab for a fascinating hands-on lesson—dissecting owl pellets! By examining these pellets, scientists (and our students!) can discover what owls have been eating based on bones, fur, and other remains. Wonder what exciting findings these young scientists made?
Mrs. Gartrell's kindergartners are working hard on learning their sight words! There are so many fun ways to pratice reading. Every word learned is a step closer to becoming confident readers! Keep it up!
