Big ideas take some brainstorming! As part of the "Leader in Me" training, our 4th-graders gathered to work on a Mission Statement for the grade level. Here they are discussing how they want the Mission Statement to "See," "Hear," and "Feel, " which will help them dig deeper into answering, "Why do we come to school?"

A game of war… place value style! It's always a great day when your students are so excited about learning that they beg to play a math game over and over again because it's so much fun! Way to go, students in Mrs. Suttons' third grade math class!

Today, Mrs. Anderson's PreK class had their first visit to the media center! They enjoyed a read-aloud of "Should I Share My Ice Cream?" by Mo Willems, followed by a sweet ice cream-sharing game. Each student practiced asking, "Would you like to share my ice cream?" as they took turns, giving them a great chance to work on their politeness and saying "please" and "thank you." Such a fun way to learn important social skills!

It felt a little like fall as the students raised the flag today! A big thank you to Mrs. Smith for guiding our Kindness Crew students in learning to care for the United States Flag and the Georgia State Flag. Proud to see our young patriots in training!

Last week, our Hawks took part in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census, contributing valuable data on the pollinators at our school to the University of Georgia for their research! After the count, everyone celebrated with a fun pollinator party in the gazebo. Thank you, Mrs. Chapman, for organizing this event. It was a "buzzing" good time!

Students in Mrs. Connelly fourth grade ELA class have been learning how to be a community of readers and how to be active listeners. They are buddy reading during the reading workstations and are using dialogue circles to enforce listening skills. Students are able to think while someone's talking and to formulate a response. They are listening and seeking to understand what they're saying, their perspective and point of view. Students are engaged, attentive and listening to their peers. It's a win-win!
